So many things/moments/people have been inspiring me so much it's hard to put to words. Not directly about running, but definitely things I can relate to running. I just feel it right here and there are days when I just want to be submerged in it (music, moments, images...). They help keep me going in my own little corner here. Have you ever felt that way? So moved to tears? So inspired your heart swells?
First, Sporto, my 9 y.o. boy. We are so deeply proud and moved by his courage to stand up, sing, and play the guitar in front of a very intimidating-looking group of teachers. He auditioned for his school talent show last Friday. As scary as I am sure it felt, he got up there anyway and did his best. "I messed up a little bit, Mom," he said, but I couldn't tell because he just kept on playing and singing "Twist And Shout." A very proud Mommy moment I just wanted to cry right there behind him! <3
Second, "Now We Are Free" by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard. "What does it mean to be free?...Do you feel free?...You can be free but still be imprisoned by fear, by ignorance, by doubt, by anger..prisons that are more difficult to get out of..that you may never be allowed to leave.." Let go, be free.
Now close your eyes and listen to the music.
I'm sure you've all seen the movie, The Gladiator. Remember that scene at the end when Maximus moves his left hand over the field of grass? We are all imprisoned by our own fears, doubts, ignorance, and anger. When I listen to this song, I think about being free from my fear of the water; free from self-doubt about completing my first marathon or whether I'm a good enough mom to my boys; free from guilt - taking some "me" time. Now listen to the end of the song and you can't help but want to be free from it all.
Third, "Time" by Hans Zimmer. What can I say, I LOVE Hans Zimmer's music. Doing laundry earlier today never felt so epic until I heard this song - haha!
Are there any music/songs that move you - that make your heart swell? Please share!
Glad to connect with you on twitter! Congrats to your son- that is awesome!
